Once Lost

A New Musical

"It just captured instantly what living in the moment is like." - Wendy Mitchell

Alzheimer's Society Alzheimer's Scotland Dementia UK Arts4Dementia

Our aim producing ‘Once Lost’ is to use our skills as songwriters and producers to raise awareness of dementia in a unique way. We want to spread the message that a diagnosis of dementia doesn’t mean it is the end. People can still live happy lives with the illness.

We intended to debut Once Lost at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2020 & 2021, however due to the uncertainty of the pandemic we were unable to do so. However, we are continuing to create the show to spread awareness of dementia. Stay tuned for updates on future performances!

About

A powerful musical about living with dementia.

Told through memories and original music, this story challenges expectations and sheds light on what dementia cannot steal from us. The show was inspired by the writers' family experience with the illness and their passion to raise awareness for it.

It encompasses comedy, drama and happiness amongst the reality of the illness.

Reviews

"Wow, that was wonderful! It just captured instantly what living in the moment is like. It captured instantly that time takes a different perspective with dementia. It's precious and you just have to live from minute to minute."

- Wendy Mitchell about the song "Moments" (Sunday Times Best Selling Author)

Alzheimer's Scotland

One of the inspirations for writing ‘Once Lost’ was to use the Edinburgh Fringe as a platform to raise awareness of dementia in a unique way. As Scotland’s national dementia charity, Alzheimer’s Scotland provide support to carers and families as well as those who live with dementia.
We are supporting this charity because we think it is vital to acknowledge the hardship dementia creates both within the people surrounding dementia and the illness itself.
